Winter Street Church, Bath Maine

In honor of my friend Michelle, and her wonderful blog- Maine-ly Home (www.mainelyhome.blogspot.com), I have painted the Winter Street Church located in Bath, Maine. I love the intense whiteness of this church, and on this particular day, the stormy sky behind it was fabulous! This is actually a smaller painting to lead up to a larger scale painting in the future.

No new painting, but...

I am working on a new piece! I got wrapped up in other stuff- like work and kids today- so I will post it tomorrow- but in the meantime- check out my friend's daily blog- www.mainelyhome.blogspot.com
She has written my blog up on her blog! She is a wonderful writer, and posts about interesting, daily events with such talent that you will want to catch her updates all the time! Recently she discovered that there is a National S'mores day, she posted a recipe for baking cupcakes in mason jars (lids are awesome on cupcakes!) and she dipped into the benefits and how to's on eating sustainably! Check her out!

Flying Cloud

This is the scene at Henry's camp- the boys live in these yomes and teepees all summer- cook their own food over an open fire, pump their water up from a natural spring, keep food cold through an ice house, and have no phones, flashlights (only candles), watches- nothing- he loved it!

Stormy Skies over Washington

This is a tiny painting- 4x4". So much fun- this subject matter is really keeping my head working- I have many more ideas for these buildings- large painting, bigger sky, less color...

Washington, NH

OK- here's a leap for me. I saw this cluster of buildings on our way to Pillsbury State park and knew they would be the subject of several paintings. The image is made up of layers of texture and color. I see this as a study for larger pieces as well.

Maxixe Cukes

These are a type of Brazilian cucumber that a group of UMass Amherst graduate students are selling at our local Whole Foods Market. I thought they were beautiful and bought them to paint, as well as delicious and have enjoyed eating!

Through the trees

This is another view out over the lake from our campsite- quite nice! While we were there, we were lucky enough to witness a baby loon being taught to fish for it's food by it's parents- they are amazing birds! Really spectacular!

Windmill

This is one of the paintings I did while camping in N.H. this past week. The view of the horizon from our campsite had windmills! I thought they were great!

Two Giant Sunflowers

These flowers were too good to not paint twice!

I will be camping with my husband and son for the next few days, and will be doing some plein air painting while there- posts with the results will come next week when we return!

Lake Ninevah

This is the scene you see when you walk into my daughter's camp in Vermont. The lake is beautiful, the forest peaceful, and the people are amazing. Every time we arrive, Madeleine goes running down to the edge of the water and smiles!

More Summer Hydrangeas

More hydrangea! I am enjoying painting the still life bleeding off the edges at a diagonal- the flowers cut off on one side, and the leaves on the other.

Baby Weston

This is a commission piece- a portrait of a mother and her new baby. I truly enjoy doing commission work as it pulls me in new directions.

Summer Hydrangea

I love these blue flowers! The previous owners planted a small hydrangea bush in our backyard in the shade- not well placed, and actually, sort of in the way- but it perseveres and blooms despite the lack of sunlight and care! I love it!
