I never cared very much for geraniums until I rented an apartment in NYC. The owners of the loft left much of their furniture and plants for us, and we were responsible for keeping the plants alive. The loft was huge, and had long window ledges with these small geranium plants lined up on them. For much of the year they were rough, spindly looking plants- less than desirable. But once a year, they bloomed. They were so beautiful- all different shades of pink and white- that I became an instant fan. Now, whenever I see geraniums, I think of our wonderful loft on 29th Street.
