I am finally back up and running with a new hard drive from Dell. What an ordeal!
I am posting two pictures today to show a bit more about my process. I begin with a blank canvas and a piece of vine charcoal. The vine charcoal is a good tool for drawing in the basic layout of the painting. I am then able to easily paint right over it. The second painting shows the "wash" I do in a grey scale to lay in the darkest shadows. Tomorrow I will finish the painting and post the completed piece with color added. The computer is reversing the order of the images- but I think you can tell which is the sketch and which has the wash added!
